Christmas Wishes

Two notes about this post before you read further:

1) this is probably more directed to my family than anyone, but anyone who wants to help is more than welcome to.

2) this is breaking my cardinal rule about Christmas, which is that I don't mention it before Thanksgiving, but if you know that ahead of time then maybe you'll be able to see how much this means to me.

When people ask me what I want for Christmas, lots of times I don't have an answer. It's probably because I hate Christmas. I'm just not a fan.

This year though, I have an answer.

One of my manager's at Outback has been very, very good to me. We're more like pals then employer and employee. She pretty much takes care of all of us. She's easy-going, fun to work with, and just an all around good person. Her husband is having some medical problems and the treatment is very expensive, even with insurance. Needless to say, they have to come up with quite a bit of money before the end of the year, and then the insurance year starts over in January. What falls right between? Christmas. They have a ten year old boy and a seven year old girl.

I know that she's really, really worried about her husband and trying to figure out Christmas for the kids is not going to be easy, both financially and emotionally.

So what I want for Christmas is this: if you were going to buy me a gift, I'd rather you didn't. I'd like to be able to give the money you would have spent on me to my manager. She needs it more than I do. Her kids need presents more than I do. And my Christmas will be so much better knowing that a good family can have a good Christmas.

Happy holidays.

You are such a tender-hearted person. You are thoughtful and kind, worried much more about others than yourself. Love you lots!
