Okay folks, here's the deal: Ames is not, and has never been, a fair-weather fan. Win or lose, my team is my team. And I think your team needs you the very most when they're losing. The season did not end like I would have hoped. I can't tell you how much I hate the Lakers, and Kobe, and the fact that NBA officials treat Kobe like he's made of glass. I hate the biased calls, because they are crap. I hate that our guys will get absolutely hammered beneath the basket in this non-contact sport, but a Jazzman touches Kobe's arm and it's a foul. GARBAGE. Jazz go on a run, start to come close to taking the lead, and what happens? The refs go on the offensive and make sure it doesn't happen. I wonder what their price is. I think LA knows how much it costs to buy them off.
I get really fired up about it, because it's not fair to my team. It's not fair to any team. I would love to see what would happen if NBA officials would call the game FAIR. You know it's bad when even the commentators start talking about non-calls that are happening right in front of the official. Reggie Miller is sympathetic to Jerry Sloan for getting ejected over going after the official, for crying out loud! I think that says something!
Instead, I get to practice some radical acceptance.
Dear Jazz,
I still love you guys! I know it was a tough season, losing Larry Miller and having injury after injury after injury...after injury, and the regular season didn't end like we would have hoped. I know you could have gotten beyond the first round against a different team. But you fought hard. Keep your heads up! I've been a Jazz fan for as long as I can remember, and I'm proud to be your fan today.
And Hot Rod, I'm gonna miss you! Jazz on the radio just won't be the same. Best of luck to you though, and thanks for the memories!
