I am randomly posting tonight. Not really sure what it is I'm going to be writing, but I feel like blogging for some reason, so here's goes (quite literally) nothing.
The school season is rapidly coming to an end. I'm looking forward to taking the summer off and not having to do homework in all my spare time...well, except for when I decide that my brain is sufficiently liquefied and my patience is fraying. This has been the most difficult semester I've taken. I don't know if it's because it's my last semester at Weber or in spite of it. At the same time though, I'm nervous for the semester to be over. I should have my Associate of Arts degree in about three weeks time. And that's the end of the line for Weber State. I'm still going to major in Aviation Administration, only now I am considering more schools than just Utah Valley. So I've been in the business of applying and renewing financial aid and trying not to wreck my GPA this semester.
Here are the top three (well, the only three) considerations, not really in any special order:
1) Utah Valley University; Orem, UT
PROS: low tuition, good program, and the three people I know who have gone here have all raved about how much they enjoyed it, I could transfer to the Orem Outback.
CONS: commuting distance, commuting distance, commuting distance...and even though gas prices are still climbing, I don't know if I can afford to move to Orem.
2) Westminster College; Salt Lake City, UT
PROS: I've been there before and I really liked it, small classes, better program, better commute, I could keep my job in Layton.
CONS: expensive!
3) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Prescott, AZ
PROS: strictly an aviation-themed university, best program, a chance to get outside of Utah, no messing with Daylight Saving Time ending and beginning
CONS: tuition (not as much as Westminster, but definitely not as cheap as UVU), not knowing anyone in AZ, more difficult to watch the Jazz
MIXED FEELINGS: living on campus
The application for ERAU is a lot more involved than the other two, but who knows? Maybe I'll get in.
During the summer, I'm not going to school. I'm going to work and try to save money, which is difficult to do when you're a restaurant server. Summers are slow. But without homework, I can for sure work more than just four days.
I'm also getting excited that I'll finally have time to do things that I like to do. My friend Paul has been telling me about book after book that I would love to read and get all wrapped up in...but I'm holding out. Getting wrapped up in an amazing work of fiction would not bode well for this one's GPA.
And other than that, I'm just working and trying not to roll my eyes at stupid people. It's not easy when you work with the public as much as I do.
Three weeks until "vacation." :)
