Champions

The World Cup ended this last Sunday. I love soccer and had so much fun watching the matches! I already miss it.

Of course I was cheering for the US team. How could I not? And those boys had some fantastic moments too. They won their table, which is saying something, since they were in the same table as England. But then they got knocked out by Ghana. Sad day.

Being a realist though, and knowing that soccer is such an international game, I also picked a backup. For the duration of the tournament, I also followed Spain.

I really like David Villa. That little striker is amazing! And the rest of the team is pretty talented too. It was really awesome to get to know the other team members and their style of play.

As luck and talent would have it, Spain made it to the Finals. They beat the Netherlands, 1-0. Such a great match, and so stressful at the same time!

I have never had a winning team, ever! I am a die-hard Jazz fan and will be forever (even if I think they are making RIDICULOUS decisions right now), but they've never won a title. I think the last time the Eagles won a Super Bowl was decades ago. Definitely before my time. ;) So this is the first time I have experienced the joy of having an all out champion team.

I can understand the bandwagon fan mentality. Winning is frickin' bomb!

Go Espana!

Consequently, I have decided to also become an FC Barcelona fan, as a lot of the Spain National Team is made up of Barcelona players. Call it bandwagon if you will, but I think it's nice to have a team where I feel like I know the players.

Now if only the Jazz and the Eagles could take a lesson from the World Cup Champions!
